Color Effects
There are many theories on the moods
created and symbolic meanings about colors and what they mean. We
learn to identify specific colors with symbols. Moods are created
by colors also. Let's look at a few:
Color Mood Message
- Red hot, excitement happiness, blood
- Blue cool, leisure dignity, truth
- Yellow joyful, cheerful glamour, brightness
- Orange stimulation, defiant harvest, thoughtfulness
- Purple stately, dignified wisdom, victory
- Green cool, in control security, peace
- Black intense, anxious mystery, power
- Brown melancholy, neutral protection, atonement
- White joy, light, cold purity, innocence

Color and Symbols
From small
electronic objects to large airports, color plays a powerful role
in helping us use the device or navigate the unfamiliar areas. Think
about the last time you were in an airport. How easy was it to navigate?
If there were bright yellow signs, did they grab your attention?
Color is
a critical factor in the visibility and readability of international
icons. When you look at buttons on an appliance, does color attract
and guide you?
Think of
some ways color helps in your world.

How We Can Use Color?
Black works
with most all colors. That is why it is called "basic black".
White adds brightness to any color. Bright colors work best as accent
colors for neutrals such as khaki, black, white, beige and gray.
All colors change their brightness and tone when they are used in
combination with different background colors. Any combination of
primary colors (red, blue, yellow) will sparkle.
Keep in
mind that fashions are often sold in color-coordinated groups. Get
a feel for what you like and feel comfortable in and select those
colors, rather than wear what is grouped.
Color
is one of the easiest ways to show off your personal style.
Being fashionable dressed is not as much a matter of how expensive
or trendy your clothes are.
It is how you wear your clothes and how you combine color and textures
that determine your flair for fashion.
